spot ablation and IPL Photorejuvenation

Note: Extreme UV damage causing dense telangiectasia (spider veins) and skin pre-cancers. Outdoor workers experience similar kinds of «sun and element aging». This man had spot ablation of the pre-cancers, IPL Photorejuvenation (2) to reduce the veins. He looks much healthier in his skin. He would be advised to screen from UV light more carefully in the future, plus guard against cold and wind injury. He will need to stay vigilant for new pre-cancers. A PDT in the future might be a rewarding treatment for him, removing the «bad guys» microscopically from the field of skin cells.

Extreme UV damage, Outdoor Worker

AFTER

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL)

Note:  This man suffered the appearance of a fair skinned outdoors worker.  This is a predictable outcome for a person who routinely is exposed to elements such as UV light, cold, and wind.  It is an occupational hazard for him.  He proceeded to do IPL therapy with very favorable outcome.   What is not pictured is his Rosacea. He did relapse a few years later but another couple of sessions put him back in remission.  He needs to carefully protect his skin from the elements.

Rhinophyma (Variant of Rosacea)

AFTER

1 month after After PDT and Laser Peel

Note: The patient was very pleased to smooth the bumpy distortions off his nose.  «Rhinophyma» is a variant of Rosacea that occurs more often in men.  This older war vet was tired of people staring at him.  He was thrilled to have a «normal» nose again.

1 Intense Pulsed Light session, 1 Photodynamic Therapy

Note:  This woman has had very sensitive, flushy red, blemished Rosacea for  a decade, and worsening.  Between these 2 pictures, this woman had had one Intense Pulsed Light Photorejuvenation and 1 Photodynamic Therapy session.  She was very pleased with the outcome, noticing reduced rosy color, diminished facial veins, smoother textured skin, less skin sensitivity, and fewer shortlived blemishes.   Other than the expected «sunburned look» to the face for a few days after each treatment, she had no side effects. She is happy.  She realizes that she may need to do a periodic maintenance treatment every year or two.

AFTER

IPL and PDT

Note: This woman was unable to work because of the florid dermatitis in the public eye. For several years she was held back from her occupational role while she was facing risky oral medications in hopes of remission. She discontinued these medications when she began therapy with one Intense Pulsed Light session, and already she entered remission. She continued to complete a course of 5 IPL sessions and 2 PDT sessions to bring about stable healthier skin. She was able to resume her job again and naturally she was greatly relieved to get on with a more normal life.

Outside Worker with severe sun damage

Rosacea, JA

AFTER

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

Note: This man had 45 years of outdoor life, showing signs of severe sun damage due to Ultraviolet light and the other wind/cold elements.  His genetics predispose him as well to Rosacea which is the inflammatory condition that tends to occur in the setting of sun damage.  He responded very well to Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, and he followed recommendations to better protect his skin from the elements, especially UV light. He was greatly relieved to break free of the Santa jokes.
