Tattoo Removal

Tattoos are as varied as the people who express them, and so too is the removal of tattoos an art and a science.  Nirvana utilizes several devices to remove the various colors and types of pigment that tattoos consist of.  The removal of a tattoo may be quick and easy over just a few treatments, or it may involve more treatments.   The tattoo must be evaluated by the M.D. Medical Director at Nirvana, with discussion of the clinical aspects and proposed plan.  If willing, the patient will undergo skin testing with the M.D. prior to proceeding with treatment.  Once satisfied that the endpoints are appropriate, the M.D. will assign the process to a medical technician, specially trained in dermatological lasers, to complete the treatment.  The M.D. remains available for further consultation throughout the process as desired by patient or technician. 

Sinon technology is specifically dedicated to Tattoo Removal.  This device is a true medical laser with a 694 nm wavelength.   It is a fact that this wavelength has a great affinity for the dark colors of a tattoo, such as dark blues, greens, and blacks.  When the laser beam is delivered to the tattoo, the beam will pass through normal skin without heating while en route to the pigment deposited deeper.  The laser beam will heat the pigmented debris causing the particles to pulverize and either disseminate, or become affiliated with a skin scab and accordingly be removed with the scab.

Other instruments are required for some of the other tattoo colors such as red and yellow.  The choice of instrument will depend on the tattoo and skin type of the patient.  This will be discussed at the time of complimentary consultation with the Cosmetic Medicine Laser M.D. at Nirvana.
